This first set of drawings are of the centre of Penistone. They are St John’s The Baptist Church ,Church Street ,The Spread Eagle & Hawley's wood yard ,which recently closed after many years of service. The church tower is 80 ft high & the weather vain on the top is a stainless steel fish & was made in 1975. The church is opposite the bus shelter which was built in 1936 & the war memorial just outside the church yard was unveiled in 1924.
